I've only known Dee & Rob for little over a year now but they've already become two of my favourite people. When we met it immediately felt like we were old friends. Those are the friendships you need to hold on to! Only a few months into knowing each other and they asked me to not only be a guest at their intimate lakeside wedding in Golden BC but also to be their wedding photographer. I obviously said yes immediately.
Dee & Rob are probably the most laid back couple that I know so it only makes sense that their wedding was casual, relaxed and unique... just like them! Since Rob is Australian and his family and friends were traveling from across the world they decided to have the wedding be a full weekend event. Kicking Horse Resort has a wide range of rental properties so most people rented houses together which were only a stumble away from each other. You can actually get married at the top of Kicking Horse but it will cost you a pretty penny! Instead Rob & Dee opted to have their ceremony & wedding at Cedar Lake Recreation Area, just down the road. The lake has a bunch of campsites (which is actually where we met the year before!) as well as mountain biking trails, a terrifying rope swing, and a cute little beach.
Rob & Dee exchanged their vows as their loved ones gathered round. I've never seen two people laugh as much as these two, especially when Rob promised to never let Dee get hungry. You couldn't have asked for a more intimate ceremony in the woods. After all was said and done we wandered the paths around the lake , drank champagne and eventually ended up at the Wolfs Den in Golden for an amazing burger bar followed by a night of dancing that we never wanted to end. I have to say this was one of the best weddings I've ever been to and I'm so thankful I got to be the one to capture it. I would like to be best friends with all of my wedding couples so lets make that happen!
